FC Barcelona has officially sent one of their promising talents on loan to a Portuguese club, aiming to foster their development.
FC Barcelona has secured the transfer of a young forward player to a Portuguese club, further emphasizing their planning to allow their youth players to gather playing experience while offering effective progression abroad.
The loan deal runs until June 30, 2026, and coincides with Barca’s model for youth development while being mindful of their financial position under La Liga Financial Fair Play.
The transfer, which was confirmed on July 5, 2025, reinforces the club’s commitment to see their players receive regular playing time in the first team, in the top leagues possible, while controlling their development over the long term.
The player was Alan Godoy, the 22-year-old Spanish striker from Barça Atlètic, who signed for Estrela de Amadora, as per the Official Barcelona X account.
Godoy, who signed for Barca from Eldense in the 2025 winter transfer window, made a quick impact, scoring on debut, before suffering a muscle injury.
His loan to the first-division club in Portugal, which does not include a purchase option, provides Godoy with the opportunity to showcase his potential.
Godoy is contracted with Barcelona until June 30, 2027, demonstrating the club’s belief in his future potential.
This move comes on the back of a handful of departures from Barcelona’s academy, with players like Diego Percan and Aleix Garrido also looking for a new challenge.
New Barça Atlètic manager Juliano Belletti is emphasizing loan moves to top leagues, similar to FC Andorra in La Liga 2, to develop their prospects.
Godoy’s move to Estrela de Amadora could be a significant moment in the player’s career; it could potentially put him in line for a future spot in Hansi Flick’s first team, as Barcelona balances youth development amidst ambitious competitive aspirations.
