Barcelona has provided information on their squad for today’s key Champions League match against Inter Milan at the Estadi Olímpic.

It has been 9 years since the Blaugrana reached the final of UEFA’s top tournament, and manager Hansi Flick will be looking for an important lead heading into next week’s second leg in Italy.

The squad list has some noticeable absences, including goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Ter Stegen is 33 today and missed the match because he was not registered for the Champions League and will not be on the bench.

In the attack, the injury to Robert Lewandowski is a serious setback to Barcelona’s attacking setup.

Young players Marc Bernal and Marc Casado are also injured, as is left-back Alejandro Balde.

Despite some injuries, Flick has named all the other available first-team players in the squad.

Included in the squad were some academy players, including defenders Hector Fort and goalkeeper Ander Astralaga.

Flick has reportedly decided to keep continuity and may select the same starting XI that played in Barcelona’s last cup final appearance.

Again, after this decision, perhaps this signals that the German manager wishes to play it safe with his starting XI in this important match in Europe.

Barcelona’s attack will clearly have a lot to replace after Lewandowski’s absence from their lineup, while this match-up may be influenced by the midfield battle with Frenkie de Jong and Pedri likely to be involved and probably telling if you are looking for the outcome of this 1st Leg.

This match allows Barcelona an opportunity to take a massive step toward putting their long wait for Champions League glory behind them; but it is against a strong test as Inter Milan reached the final last season.

Kick-off is tonight in the Estadi Olímpic while the Catalan team will be seeking a lead to take before next week’s trip to the San Siro.
