FC Barcelona has officially announced the departure of a highly-rated star, who has chosen to pursue new opportunities.
The 19-year-old was one of the stars of the Juvenil A team this past year and chose not to renew their contract, which expired on June 30, 2025, to search for new opportunities.
Barcelona has been struggling to retain its young talent due in part to financial constraints and interest from other clubs.
The player was reportedly being tracked by Arsenal earlier this season before the player’s departure.
The player in question is Arnau Pradas, a left-winger who is known for electrifying dribbling skills and proficiency in front of the goal.
Pradas joined Barcelona at the age of seven and had five goals and two assists this past year during the UEFA Youth League, contributing to a domestic treble with the Juvenil A team.
Although the club made them an offer to renew their contract, the player left after 12 years of service to Barcelona.
The player said leaving was “a well-thought-out decision” supported by family, on Instagram.
His explosive one-on-one abilities and ability to play on both wings made him one of the top youth players in Spain, even garnering posts from users highlighting his “golden left foot” and comparing his style of play to Bryan Gil.
Pradas’ departure was probably influenced by Barca’s financial issues and the relegation of Barça Atletic to the Second RFEF, and his joining many players who have also left, such as Hugo Alba.
Pradas has interest from a number of clubs around Europe and is considering his options. The door is open for a potential return due to Barcelona’s history of utilizing future clauses.
Pradas’s departure highlights the issues La Masia faces in maintaining its brightest young stars, but Pradas moves on as a proud Blaugrana who has to potential to make an impact at a new club.
