FC Barcelona, which has dealt with its continuing financial troubles, has taken yet another step toward its financial stabilization.

Seeking new sources of revenue, and led by president Joan Laporta, the club has tried to find creative ways to comply with La Liga’s Financial Fair Play and become more competitive in the transfer market.

This step is yet another monumental occasion for the Blaugrana, which hopes to balance its financial books and continue to be one of the preeminent clubs in Europe.

The announcement should have a relatively immediate impact in terms of much-needed funds, and most importantly for Barcelona, it will help them pursue their key targets, such as Marcus Rashford, and find incomings to help the squad’s depth under head coach Hansi Flick.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona has agreed to a three-year €30 million sponsorship with the Democratic Republic of Congo to promote tourism with the slogan ‘DRC, the Heart of Africa’ on the sleeves of their jersey.

The sponsorship deal, announced on July 11, 2025, is for €10 million a year, which is a great step financially for the football club.

The sponsorship deal shows Barcelona’s true global appeal and ability to attract unique sponsorship opportunities.

The aid of the DRC will indirectly come into play by rallying the club’s finances, which can bolster their pursuits to return to La Liga’s 1:1 financial rule and explore greater opportunities in the transfer market.

This sponsorship adds to the expanding commercial portfolio of Barcelona, which is made up of a long-term partnership with Nike, as well as a recent shorts sponsorship with UAE-based company, Medusa.

Despite the modest annual income (compared to their €127 million-per-year NIKE deal), at €10 million per year it still represents much-needed liquidity for what is a financially unstable club.

In considering the 2025-26 season, it will be interesting to see how the sponsorship helps to bolster Flick’s vision to ensure Barcelona becomes competitive again, both on the pitch and amongst retail merchants.
