FC Barcelona is looking to transfer one of its former players, which would be ideal to solve the financial situation of the club.

Given that La Liga imposes strict salary cap regulations on its teams, the new management of FC Barcelona recognizes that they will have to make a considerable amount of money from player sales before it can register new players; hence, Barcelona wants to take advantage of player sales to make those transfers happen.

Even though the player’s current club has said he is untouchable, there is interest from teams in the Premier League and Bayern Munich, all more than willing to pay for him despite his current team signing him Last Summer.

Barcelona is banking on that sort of interest while trying to be creative in how it resolves its financial mess, while helping Hansi Flick build a competitive squad for the 2025-26 season.

That player is Francisco Trincão, a 25-year-old Portuguese winger who is now playing for Sporting CP, as reported by Diario Sport.

FC Barcelona sold Trincão to Sporting for €10 million, while retaining 50% of any future transfer fee.

He has had a fantastic season with nine goals and 15 assists, which has now led to interest from Manchester United, Arsenal, and they are indicating that his transfer value is around €35 million.

A loss like this is critical for all of Barcelona’s financial fair play plans, especially after losing the buyback option for Trincão last summer.

Trincão’s attributes suggest that, with his form, a high-value transfer would be inevitable, but Sporting’s stance might cause delays.

If Sporting wants to sell Trincão, with progress in negotiations, the amount might even be as high as up to €17.5 million, which is a significant sum if Flick’s targets requested too many transfers.

At this point, Barcelona has to sit and wait while they hope things change in their favour.
