Barcelona midfielder was in a bleak position last December and was on the verge of ending his time at the club.

At this time of uncertainty, a few top clubs were vying for the signature of Olmo, and Manchester City was a major move.

According to Diario Sport, the player is Dani Olmo.

He was provisionally unregistered due to an administrative problem, and he had no clue whether he would be continuing to play for Barcelona this season.

The issue caused a lot of stress for the player, who was even thinking of being out for months.

Luckily, in January, Spain’s Sports Council (CSD) came to the rescue and provided a reprieve, which permitted Olmo to keep playing until at least April.

As has been reported, Pep Guardiola’s team looked at Olmo as an ideal player for his brand of football and were prepared to sign him—even for the short term.

City’s pursuit wasn’t simply about keeping Olmo active; it was a tactical move, too.

With the influence of Kevin De Bruyne gradually diminishing, the club was thinking ahead to the future, and Olmo was considered an important piece.

With the tempting proposal from Manchester City and the interest of other top clubs, Olmo remained loyal to Barcelona.

Once his registration issue was resolved, he focused entirely on playing for the Catalan club.

This situation illustrates how much respected Olmo is in European football and how close he came to playing for one of the world’s best clubs.

Barcelona almost lost one of their key players, but the player’s patience and dedication enabled him to weather a tough period.

His tale shows both the difficulties that players endure off the pitch and the dedication they can have towards their clubs.
