Barcelona has received a significant advantage ahead Champions League clash with PSG, as the French champions face injury setbacks.

With the ‘league phase’ of the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League fast approaching, PSG, the reigning French and European champions, are grappling with significant injury concerns to two of their star players.

These setbacks, occurring just weeks before the high-stakes clash at the Camp Nou, could tilt the balance in favor of Hansi Flick’s side as they aim to assert dominance in this pivotal encounter.

The players in question are Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué, both of whom sustained injuries during France’s World Cup qualifier against Ukraine on September 5, 2025, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

Dembélé, a former Barcelona winger, was substituted at halftime due to discomfort in his right thigh, only to aggravate the issue after coming off the bench.

He has been ruled out of France’s upcoming match against Iceland, with reports suggesting a potentially significant injury that could sideline him for PSG’s Champions League opener against Atalanta and possibly the Barcelona clash.

Doué, meanwhile, was forced off earlier in the same match with a calf injury, the extent of which remains unclear but raises doubts about his availability for the October 1 fixture.

These injuries compound PSG’s challenges, already intensified by the recent cycling accident that left their head coach, Luis Enrique, with a fractured clavicle.

For Barcelona, which is also navigating its own injury concerns with Gavi and Alejandro Balde, PSG’s depleted squad offers a strategic opportunity.

Flick will look to capitalize on the potential absence of Dembélé, whose pace and flair remain a threat, and Doué, a rising star in PSG’s attack.

As the Catalans prepare for a grueling schedule, including La Liga matches against Valencia and Getafe, this news provides a timely boost.

The Camp Nou faithful will hope their team can seize this advantage to deliver a statement victory against a weakened PSG side in the Champions League.
