Major Barcelona target looks set to join Liverpool

Liverpool are set to win the race to sign major Barcelona target for 2025.

Reports suggest that Liverpool is presently leading FC Barcelona in the race to acquire Spanish national Oscar Mingueza, who is currently with La Liga club Celta Vigo.

The Reds are said to be seeking a new right-back as Trent Alexander-Arnold approaches the final year of his contract, casting doubt on his future.

According to a Spanish report, Barcelona is interested in re-signing Mingueza, but Liverpool has also expressed significant interest. Mingueza is now Liverpool’s top target and it seems they are close to securing his signature before Barcelona does.

The defender is viewed as a cost-effective choice, with a €20 million release clause, making Liverpool’s interest a major blow to the Catalan club.

Barcelona’s sports director, Deco, had intentions to re-sign Mingueza later on, but Liverpool’s proposal changes the situation completely. Celta Vigo is willing to engage in discussions regarding his transfer, acknowledging the opportunity to capitalize on the defender, who is under contract until 2026.

The aforementioned situation presents a challenge to Deco in retaining Mingueza within La Liga.
