Former Barcelona striker Luis Suarez had some encouraging words for the club, new-generation heroes, and his tearful exit in 2020.
According to AS, Suarez, the Uruguayan legend, had nothing but encouraging words for Barcelona’s new-generation heroes, and the exact ones he mentioned as “difference-makers” were Pedri and Lamine Yamal.
Suarez’s 2020 Barcelona exit, however, was bitter. “I went through a lot when I left,” he admitted. “But slowly, I understood that everything happens for a purpose.”
Although the exit was bitter, Suarez bears no grudge and is a die-hard club fan.
Suarez, now playing for Inter Miami, was generous in his praise for the duo, saying, “Pedri’s level is amazing to me—his consistency and calmness amaze me. And Lamine Yamal? At his age, what he’s doing is extraordinary.”
He also gave credit to the work of the senior players like Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski but said that Pedri and Yamal are different.
The 37-year-old also fondly remembered his Barcelona days, when he created football’s deadliest attacking trio—MSN (Messi, Suarez, Neymar).
With a smile, he laughed, “In the start, I was like the donkey in the middle, did not want to get in the way of Leo and Neymar!”
Their magic, however, was chemistry that took them to a record treble in 2015.
Suarez expressed gratitude to his all-time teammates and midfield legends, such as Xavi, Iniesta, and Busquets, for making his victory a success.
Even years down the line, Suarez’s heart remains with Barcelona—whether he is cheering their new heroes or recalling his golden days with Messi and Neymar.
His Blaugrana legend status is forever.
