A young winger who has been lighting up Ligue 1 has openly stated he wants to join Barcelona, further fueling growing transfer speculation.
The twenty-year-old forward has scored nine goals and provided four assists so far this season and has been on the list of players the Catalonian club has been monitoring since last season, when scouts noticed him playing so well in a European game.
His creativity and goal-scoring ability have led to comparisons with many of the greats of the game and made him one of the most exciting talents in French football.
It seems Barcelona’s interest in the player is shared by him, as he has repeatedly sung the praises of the way Barça play football, as per Diario Sport.
In interviews, he talked about how he grew up wanting to play like the players at Barça and even named a former Blaugrana superstar as one of his influences.
He earned the love of the Camp Nou supporters when he played in the Joan Gamper Trophy last summer and showed everyone both his potential and that he could play in a Barcelona way.
The rising star in this case is AS Monaco’s Eliesse Ben Seghir, who sports a valuation of €30 million and a contract until 2027, which would likely complicate any move.
Although Barcelona’s financial situation remains an obstacle, the player’s openness about wanting to be a part of the club can play into the club’s decision.
With the summer transfer window coming up, it seems that it may come down to whether Barcelona can fend off rival suitors, & if they can deal with Monaco.
Until then, the winger’s eye-catching exploits on the pitch will keep him a name to track as transfer speculation heats up.
