Barcelona supporters were handed an anxious update ahead of the World Cup final after fresh concerns emerged surrounding Lamine Yamal’s fitness.

The teenage sensation has been one of Spain’s standout performers throughout the tournament, helping fire La Roja into Sunday’s showdown with Lionel Messi’s Argentina.

With the biggest game in world football just days away, all eyes are now on whether the Barcelona winger will be available from the start.

Spain’s preparations suffered a minor setback after Lamine Yamal was absent from the main group during Thursday’s training session.

Rather than training alongside his teammates, the 19-year-old completed an individual programme away from the rest of Luis de la Fuente’s squad, as revealed by Alfredo Martinez on X.

The Barcelona star was also seen with heavy strapping around his thigh, raising fresh questions over his condition before the World Cup final.

The concern is understandable considering Yamal entered the tournament carrying a hamstring problem that forced him to miss the closing stages of Barcelona’s season.

Despite the worrying images from training, there remains optimism inside the Spain camp.

According to Alfredo Martinez, there is currently confidence that Lamine Yamal will recover in time to feature against Argentina on Sunday in New Jersey.

Spain will be chasing their second World Cup title after lifting the trophy for the first time in 2010, with Yamal expected to play a crucial role if he is passed fit.

Given the influence he has had throughout the tournament, Spain will be hoping their Barcelona superstar can overcome the latest fitness concern and lead the attack as they attempt to stop Lionel Messi and Argentina from retaining the World Cup.
