Excitement is building at La Masia as another young talent begins to make waves in the Barcelona academy.
Fans have been keeping a close eye on emerging players, eager to see who might be the next to break into the first team.
Every debut, every impressive performance, adds fuel to the ongoing conversation about the future of Barca.
Conversations in training grounds, social media, and local sports outlets have highlighted one name in particular this week.
It’s a reminder that Barcelona’s youth system continues to produce players capable of turning heads.
Ebrima Tunkara, just shy of his 16th birthday, has taken a major step in his rapid rise by making his official debut for Barca Atletic during the postponed Group 3 Segunda RFEF fixture against Castellon B.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the 15-year-old midfielder entered the match in the 81st minute, replacing Shane Kluivert with the side trailing 2-1, and helped guide the team to a 2-2 draw.
The teenager almost had an even bigger impact.
In the final action of the match, he rose to meet a cross with a powerful header that struck the crossbar, only for the referee to rule it offside by the narrowest of margins.
Ebrima Tunkara had already been exposed to the reserve environment earlier this year, playing 53 minutes in a friendly against Camp Joliu, and has now formalised his commitment to Barcelona until 2029, with the contract becoming active when he turns 16 on March 10.
Born in 2010, Tunkara joined La Masia in the 2018-19 season after his father, Abdul Tunkara, moved from Gambia to Spain.
Unlike many young talents, he spent much of his early development without representation, before later joining the agency of Pini Zahavi.
Physically dominant and technically gifted, Tunkara is naturally an interior midfielder but has also been deployed on the wing for tactical reasons.
This season, he has already featured in four UEFA Youth League matches with Juvenil A and represents Spain at Under-17 level, where he has scored five goals in ten appearances.
With his rapid progression and continued development, Tunkara is quickly becoming one of Barcelona’s brightest prospects.
