Barcelona have taken a crucial step in securing their future by signing a contract with one of La Masia most promising young talents.
Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy continues to develop superb players, and they are now ramping up their securing of one of their brightest prospects with a first professional contract.
The young prospect, who is only 16 years old, is one of the exciting talents coming through the system and is now in his third season at La Masia.
He has already delivered on the potential to make a mark in the Catalan football scene.
The player is dynamic and can score goals and play in many positions, which has allowed him to progress rapidly through the youth ranks of the academy.
The emerging talent, Roberto Tomas, joined La Masia from his first team at Infantil A, scoring an impressive 21 in his first season in the academy.
He played as a striker, and also as an attacking midfielder with some balance and flair, clinical finishes, and creativity.
He played so well during his first year that he was able to skip Cadet B and earned promotion to Cadet A.
He showed immeasurable skill and maturity at this level of play, despite facing a significant difference in age difference against his peers.
Roberto has mostly played for Juvenil B this season, while at times coming down to support Cadet A.
His ten goals with Juvenil B and two with Cadet A demonstrate his ability to affect games at different levels and perform in different roles.
Coaches do not know yet if he will define himself as a pure forward or a creative midfielder, as he has done well in both positions.
As he preps to continue with Juvenil B next season, the possibility of a rise to Juvenil A is a real one as long as his development continues to rise.
Roberto Tomas is destined to be a vital part of the future of FC Barcelona.
