A La Liga rival has clinched a €5 million deal for a Barcelona ace, marking a strategic move to bolster their squad.

FC Barcelona is close to making a €5 million transfer of a midfielder to another La Liga club which helps the club with its objective to cut the squad down further and remain compliant with Financial Fair Play.

The reported deal allows for a buyback clause worth €10-€12 million, allowing them control over the player in the future.

This fits within a broad strategy to delegate player responsibilities to secure high-profile players like Marcus Rashford while reducing an overcrowded midfield without the burden of expected exits from Frenkie De Jong and fellow recognisable stars, administrators at the club are comfortable with.

The player in question is Pablo Torre, a 22-year-old Spanish midfielder who has found it difficult to secure regular minutes at Barcelona.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, RCD Mallorca has agreed to 50% of Torre’s rights, and proceeded with negotiations at a significant stage after discussions with Sevilla and French club Olympique Marseille.

Torre was once speculated to be the next Pedri, creating more than intrigue with his knowledge in the academy of a Barcelona system, but has since seen himself surplus to requirements in the immediate eyes of head coach Hansi Flick, and this move to Mallorca will allow him the opportunity for consistent playing time to demonstrate his talents.

Barcelona’s financial constraints and midfield depth, featuring Gavi, Pedri, Dani Olmo, and emerging talent Marc Bernal, have limited Torre’s opportunities.

The transfer provides Barcelona with a modest financial boost to support contract renewals for players like Lamine Yamal and Inigo Martinez.

Torre’s move to Mallorca, potentially finalized before the fiscal deadline, reflects Barcelona’s focus on balancing youth development with economic stability, ensuring they can pursue their La Liga and Champions League ambitions while fostering talents like Torre elsewhere.
