Frenkie de Jong refused a move to Manchester United or any other team this summer, opting to remain at Barcelona.
SPORT reveals that Barcelona was once again looking to offload the Dutch midfielder in order to generate funds, and had approached various European clubs to gauge their interest for the 2024/25 season.
Despite being offered other options, De Jong chose to remain with the team and is still included in Hansi Flick’s squad for the current season.
Manchester United had expressed interest in De Jong as a secondary choice in case they were unable to sign PSG’s Manuel Ugarte.
Nevertheless, United managed to finalize the Ugarte agreement, guaranteeing that De Jong will remain with Barcelona for at least one more season.
