A key Barcelona attacker’s future is moving in the right direction after the player held contract renewal talks with the club.

FC Barcelona have taken proactive steps to secure the long-term future of their brightest young talents following the formal conclusion of the summer transfer window.

With the transfer market now officially closed, Deco and the club’s administrative board have pivoted their primary focus toward protecting valuable academy assets from predatory European rivals.

The highly rated teenage sensation at the center of the contract summit is Egyptian forward Hamza Abdelkarim.

According to journalist Juli Claramunt, Barcelona executives held a crucial meeting with Abdelkarim’s representative earlier this week to advance negotiations over an upgraded long-term agreement.

The primary objective of the proposed deal is to dramatically raise the 18-year-old’s release clause from its current €15 million figure to a staggering €150 million—a 900% increase designed to deter interested suitors.

Abdelkarim’s meteoric rise began during pre-season, where he finished as Barcelona’s leading goalscorer and earned high praise from the coaching staff.

However, his vulnerable €15 million buyout clause forced Hansi Flick to adopt a deliberate tactical strategy during the opening weeks of the 2026/27 campaign.

To avoid drawing excessive market interest before securing his signature on an updated agreement, Flick restricted the Egyptian youngster to just four minutes of official first-team action across the first three league fixtures.

Beyond protecting their sporting project, Barcelona are also managing complex financial clauses associated with Abdelkarim’s initial move from Al Ahly.

While Barça originally paid €1.5 million in fixed fees, variable performance add-ons—including €750,000 for five 45-minute appearances and bonuses for reaching five goals—could eventually raise the total package to €6.5 million.

With both parties eager to formalize the renewal, Barcelona expects to finalize the €150 million release clause in the coming weeks, paving the way for Abdelkarim to receive regular competitive minutes.
