Barcelona’s summer rebuild continues to take shape under Hansi Flick, with the Catalans working behind the scenes to sort out several key contract situations.

The Blaugrana are expected to make full use of La Liga’s updated rules regarding homegrown players, which will allow the club to register new contracts even under financial constraints.

Alejandro Balde’s injury return and consistent form have added stability to the left-back position, but question marks still linger around other academy stars who were once tipped for greatness.

Joan Laporta and Deco have remained active in scouting alternatives on the wing as part of a broader reshuffling of the attacking options ahead of next season.

Barcelona fans are also growing increasingly anxious about Ansu Fati’s role at the club, given his limited playing time and uncertain future under the new regime.

According to Jijantes, Jorge Mendes — the agent of Lamine Yamal, Alejandro Balde, and Ansu Fati — is set to travel to Barcelona in the coming days to meet with club officials for a critical double-pronged discussion.

The two topics at the heart of the meeting are the finalisation of Lamine Yamal’s contract renewal and the future of Ansu Fati, whose role in the squad has significantly diminished.

Yamal, widely viewed as the jewel of La Masia, is close to signing a new deal that will keep him at the club until at least 2030. The agreement is expected to be registered once he turns 18 on July 13, thanks to La Liga’s exception for long-serving homegrown players.

Financial details are the only outstanding issue in an otherwise sealed agreement, and Barcelona see the extension as non-negotiable amid growing interest from Europe’s elite.

Meanwhile, Ansu Fati’s situation is far murkier. Despite being contracted until 2027, he remains out of favour under Hansi Flick and is viewed as a potential departure to ease the wage bill.

Jorge Mendes will meet Deco and Laporta to explore options for the winger, including possible loan or permanent moves elsewhere.

While Yamal’s future looks destined to be at Camp Nou, Ansu’s could be heading in the opposite direction — depending on how this crucial meeting plays out.
