However, de Jong’s salary derives from when everything was thrown in the air by Josep Bartomeu’s inflated contracts, so it is more likely that negotiations will hinge on the remaining wage amounts as Barcelona won’t allow him to be offered inflated contracts again, not when he has reaffirmed a wish to stay at the club and be a part of this project.
He will be a cornerstone to Barcelona’s hopes of success, so both should be interested in talking soon.
