FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta has unleashed a scathing rebuttal against Javier Tebas, igniting a fierce financial feud.

FC Barcelona is firm in its conviction that it is always exercising the 1:1 Financial Fair Play rule imposed by La Liga, even though La Liga president Javier Tebas has made contradictory statements on the reasoning behind the signings.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona continues to have ongoing discussions with La Liga to clarify its financial reporting status in light of the new signings, Nico Williams and Joan Garcia.

Barcelona has told La Liga that it can reinvest every euro it earns from player sales or any other revenue streams. This falls under the allowed 1:1 rule.

The dispute does exist over a revenue stream generated by the sale of 475 VIP seats for 30 years.

Barcelona believes the revenue generated by these VIP seat sales is valid now that the seats have been installed at the renovated Spotify Camp Nou ahead of the expected reopening in September.

However, Tebas claims the club auditor Crowe had no way to verify the revenue in March due to the seats not yet physically installed or available.

This meant that La Liga, based on what was known, came up with an interim financial report without the VIP seat revenue, as they had yet to be installed.

Barcelona is confident that once the auditors verify the installation, La Liga will accept the deal, and it would appear the saga has a resolution.

Tebas’ comments recently stating that “signing is one thing, and registering is another” have heightened some tensions, as Barcelona has classified these public statements as attempts at destabilization.

The club has also strengthened its finances through multiple player sales, and does expect other income from potential player sales like Jean-Clair Todibo and Nico Gonzalez.

Despite these transactions, Tebas remains skeptical and creates legal uncertainty on player registration issues (Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor registered following his comments).

While Barcelona works through the legal process and navigates the registration challenges, they intrude on future financial stability and believe they will resolve their financial situation to continue developing the squad in compliance with La Liga.
