With one week until the winter transfer window closes, there is expected to be some movement in the Barcelona camp.
The two main players who have been linked with moves away from the Camp Nou are Eric Garcia and Ansu Fati.
However, since rumours started, Hansi Flick has reportedly been adamant about keeping Garcia, with him being able to play in defence and midfield, a quality the Barca manager appreciates.
Speaking after the game, cited by Mundo Deportivo, Flick told the media that he is very happy with Garcia’s performance against Valencia and that he expects him to stay for the remainder of this season.
“He’s staying and I’d like to have him for another year. He’s very good and I know he wants minutes.
“He’s been very good today and he’s given us stability and ball movement and he can also play in different positions.”
In the same interview, the German coach addressed Fati’s situation, explaining what the 22-year-old has told him.
“I’ve spoken to him and he wants to stay. Everyone wants to play, he’s performing well in training so we’ll see if he can participate.”
Fati was part of the team today, so that is at least a positive for the La Masia graduate as he had been struggling even to make the matchday squad.
Even though the Spaniard has been very adamant about staying, if the Blaugrana can change his mind then there is still a chance he could leave this month.
Tottenham, West Ham and Fenerbahçe have all been linked with the 22-year-old, so there is plenty of interest in the Spanish international if he does decide to depart in search of regular game time.
