Barcelona have enjoyed a strong start to their new season under Hansi Flick, with their latest win coming against Levante over the weekend.

The Catalan giants remain firmly in the La Liga title race, while also eyeing Champions League success with a squad that continues to impress under Flick’s guidance.

Off the pitch, Barça’s rebuilding project has taken important steps, with confidence in the manager growing stronger week by week.

The German coach’s ability to get the best out of his players has already been recognised within Spain, and now the recognition has spread beyond.

This week, the Barcelona manager was named Coach of the Year by the prestigious German newspaper Bild at the 2025 SPORT BILD gala, as per Barcelona official website.

It marked a major personal accolade for the Barca boss in his homeland, though he was quick to turn the spotlight onto those around him.

Hansi Flick could not attend the ceremony in Hamburg, instead joining via video conference from Barcelona, where he delivered a typically modest speech.

“As head coach, you’re on the front line.

“You get criticised, but you also get praised when things go well.

“That’s just how it is. I’m very confident in what I do, but it takes a strong coaching staff around you to do an excellent job.

“And I have that here in Barcelona. Plus, it’s a lot of fun working with these people.

“I think that’s what drives me, seeing the players every day, staying in contact with them.

“That’s the most important thing for me.”

The award marks the second major honour Flick has received for his work at Barcelona during the 2024/25 campaign.

Back in June, he was also named La Liga Coach of the Season, further cementing his growing reputation in Spain.

Flick could still add a third accolade in the months ahead, as he is in the running for the Johan Cruyff Award at the Ballon d’Or ceremony this September.

He will face competition from PSG’s Luis Enrique, Napoli’s Antonio Conte, Liverpool’s Arne Slot, and Chelsea’s Enzo Maresca.

Should he claim that award too, it would underline the impact Flick has made in a short period at Barcelona, with his leadership already leaving a significant mark both on and off the pitch.
