FC Barcelona’s interest in securing Cancelo on loan from Manchester City has hit a roadblock due to their current situation.
It seems that two Saudi Arabian clubs are willing to meet Manchester City’s €30 million asking price for Cancelo, but Barcelona isn’t inclined to match that offer.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the club is only exploring the possibility of negotiating a loan deal and might not even cover his full salary, let alone consider a permanent transfer. They are relying on agent Jorge Mendes to resolve the situation in the upcoming month.
Barcelona’s confidence in their alternatives if Cancelo does not return is a contributing factor to their current stance. They club have Jules Kounde, who can step up in that position, and they also have young players Hector Fort and Julian Araujo ready to compete for the role.
With Alejandro Balde’s injury, Cancelo had limited time at right-back last season and faced challenges in crucial matches towards the end of the season.
While Barcelona would like to have Cancelo as an option, his performances last year did not necessarily indicate that he would be a crucial player for them this summer.
