Hansi Flick unleashed his frustration on Barcelona’s players after a lackluster win against Mallorca, despite the comfortable scoreline.
Under the lights at Estadio de Son Moix, Hansi Flick’s side faced a determined RCD Mallorca outfit, with goals from Raphinha, Ferran Torres, and the ever-exciting Lamine Yamal securing what appeared to be a routine victory.
The match wasn’t without its drama, as red cards to Mallorca’s Manu Morlanes and Vedat Muriqi shifted the dynamics, leaving the hosts down to nine men.
Debutants Joan Garcia in goal and Marcus Rashford on the wing added fresh faces to the lineup, while young prospect Jofre Torrents also got a taste of the action.
However, despite the comfortable 3-0 scoreline, Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick emerged from the dugout seething with frustration, lambasting his team’s lackluster display after gaining the numerical advantage, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.
“It’s positive to start with three points, but I can’t say I’m completely satisfied,” Flick fumed in his post-match press conference, his voice laced with irritation.
He didn’t mince words about how the squad slacked off, playing at “50 or 60 percent” against a depleted opponent.
“With two more men, we should have controlled the game more and created more chances,” he snapped, emphasizing that Barcelona looked careless and failed to capitalize fully.
“We have to play faster. We have to improve some situations,” the German tactician added sharply, clearly agitated by the drop in intensity that allowed Mallorca to hang on without further humiliation.
Flick’s ire extended to specific moments, like the controversial Ferran Torres goal, where Mallorca protested as their defender, Antonio Raillo, lay injured.
Dismissing the complaints, Flick growled, “We have to play until the referee stops the game. It’s a referee’s decision and we have to accept it.” Yet, amid the criticism, he reserved praise for Lamine Yamal’s dazzling performance.
As the team returns to Catalonia, this frustrated wake-up call might just spark the improvements needed for a title charge.
With upcoming fixtures looming, the coach’s anger could prove a catalyst, pushing his stars to rediscover their ruthless edge.
