As per reports from Marca, manager Hansi Flick has finalised terms to renew his contract with Barcelona through 2027.
Barcelona are currently limited by Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations and are waiting to make the contract signing formal, the club has no margin left to register any new deals for the moment, as La Liga are not allowing revenue from ongoing sales of the Camp Nou VIP boxes.
The fact that Flick’s contract was only extended for one more year acknowledges his preferred approach of flexible contracts, based on a more year-to-year evaluation rather than long-term contracts, which he is known for.
The final barrier to Flick remaining with the club is financial.
The club projects that the Camp Nou renovations, which are being handled by Limak, a Turkish company, will be completed by June 30.
This should release the necessary FFP flexibility, allowing for Flick’s renewal.
Once that is resolved, he will be confirmed as Barcelona’s renewal for another two years minimum.
For now, all focus is on the pitch, where Flick’s work could potentially provide silverware and further justify the faith that has been placed in him.
