FC Barcelona’s youth revolution continues as Hansi Flick taps into La Masia’s rich talent pool during the international break.
With 14 senior players away representing their countries, the club seized the opportunity to integrate promising youngsters into senior training sessions.
Following a frustrating 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano in La Liga, this move underscores Barcelona’s focus on building a sustainable future while preparing for their next challenge in two weeks.
According to Mundo Deportivo, six new La Masia talents joined the first team for training on September 2, 2025: Orian Goren (holding midfielder, 16), Nil Teixidor (right-back, 17), Pol Bernabeu (left-back, 17), Hafiz Gariba (centre-back, 18), Pedro Villar (midfielder, 17), and Oriol Pallas (attacking midfielder, 18).
They were joined by regular youth call-ups Jofre Torrents, Toni Fernandez, Guille Fernandez, and Pedro ‘Dro’ Fernández.
Goren, a standout who recently signed a new contract, and Pallas, a fresh arrival from Espanyol’s academy, highlight the depth of Barcelona’s youth system.
These players trained alongside seven first-team regulars: Joan Garcia, Wojciech Szczesny, Alejandro Balde, Eric Garcia, Marc Casado, Marc Bernal, and Gerard Martin.
The session, held without head coach Hansi Flick—who was attending the Spanish Football Coaches Committee meeting in Las Rozas—was overseen by assistants Marcus Sorg, Toni Tapalovic, and Heiko Westermann.
Flick’s absence, where he received an award as last season’s best coach, did not halt the club’s progress. Notably, Gavi (recovering from knee discomfort) and Marc-Andre ter Stegen (post-back surgery) were absent, emphasizing the need for youth integration.
This training session reflects Barcelona’s storied tradition of promoting La Masia talents, a pathway that produced legends like Lionel Messi and Xavi Hernandez.
With Flick’s emphasis on youth development, evident in his consolidation of players like Lamine Yamal, these six prospects signal a bright future.
As Barcelona prepares for its La Liga return, the integration of these youngsters ensures the club’s philosophy of blending experience with emerging talent remains strong, setting the stage for a competitive season.
