Hansi Flick has firmly rejected transfer offers for Barcelona’s €50 million-rated youngster, emphasizing his critical role in the club.
FC Barcelona’s summer transfer window is heating up as the Catalan side recently brought in Joan Garcia as a goalkeeper and is currently trying to sign Nico Williams for €62 million amid Financial Fair Play issues.
Nobody is paying attention to the business deals where the current coach, Hansi Flick, has come out and stated that one of the rising players on the team is untouchable despite interest from some of the world’s biggest clubs.
With the start of the 2025/26 season coming, Flick is determined to add balance to the squad and, at all costs, ensure that their key players are retained to keep Barcelona competitive, even when the pressures of financial fair play exist.
That player in question is Fermín López, the 22-year-old La Masia progress attacking midfielder who is being tracked by clubs in the Premier League and Saudi Arabia.
Gerard Romero reported that Flick said to sporting director Deco that Fermín López is completely untouchable and is valued at €50 million.
López started the 2024/25 season slowly but ended with a total of 18 goal involvements for Barcelona in 46 total appearances.
Generally, López played as an attacking midfielder, although he managed to display his creative attacking ability along with work rate and overall energy last season.
López most recently displayed his talents and work ethic for Barcelona’s domestic treble, securing him on Flick’s wishlist due to his being an important part of the high-pressing system.
Although Barcelona’s financial resurgence may convince their board to contemplate lucrative offers, Flick’s unwavering desire to retain López is a testament to his vision, including the young Spaniard to shape the future of the team.
As Barça prepare for the demands of what they hope to be a successful Year competing for La Liga and the Champions League, López will be an integral member of the squad for them to secure their goals as the 2023-24 season ramps up.
