Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has stated that he does not intend to let two multi-faceted players leave his first-team position.

This indicates the club’s intention to build for the 2025/26 season as Barcelona attempts to comply with La Liga’s fair play regulations during their financial problems.

Flick has reiterated to the sporting department that no offers would be accepted for these two players, as he believes both are integral to his plans and, given the last season both players had, they should be a high priority for him.

Even with a potential transfer fee in mind, Flick has indicated that there are other priorities, with current squad stability being paramount.

This is all happening after Barcelona successfully won the domestic treble, and the club is navigating a summer of busy transfer activities.

The two players in question are Fermín López and Eric Garcia. López is a dynamic midfielder who played 46 matches last season, where he scored eight and made ten assists, and generated interest from numerous top European clubs, as reported by Diario Sport.

Garcia has similar abilities, made 44 appearances last season, scored five goals, and three assists while adaption to play in multiple defensive positions and also play as a midfielder, and right-back.

Flick has further stressed to Garcia that he must urgently renew his contract (which expires in 2026) so the club does not have complications later.

Flick’s faith in López and Garcia is based on their rates of success as individuals who deliver under pressure, and both players always support their teammates when they come to the pitch.

Barcelona is planning to offload players such as Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen to generate funds to secure new signings like Nico Williams, but by retaining López and Garcia, Flick maintains their future.

Retaining both players demonstrates that Barcelona is committed to retaining a backbone of flexible and elite players, as they want to again dominate La Liga and advance to the latter stages of the Champions League.
