Gerard Pique led FC Andorra to emerge as a key ally for Barcelona, facilitating loan deals for young talents to ease FFP constraints.
Gerard Piqué’s FC Andorra, which was recently promoted to Spain’s Segunda División, is shaking things up during the transfer window while Barcelona is about to start pre-season with new manager Hansi Flick.
As the transfer window is now open, many clubs across La Liga and the Segunda División will be looking to acquire Barcelona’s youth players, typically via loan, as reported by Diario Sport.
Piqué, who has strong connections with his former club, is representing Andorra as a suitable option for these young stars, to improve Andorra while giving these players some valuable competitive minutes.
The next few weeks will play a significant role in both clubs’ plans for the imminent 2025-26 season.
According to Jijantes, Piqué has already started discussions with Barcelona to take two or three of the most talented players from La Masia, with 17-year-old forward Toni Fernández being the main target.
Fernández is a talented player with a large ceiling, but there are other names like Noah Darvich, Juan Hernández, Landry Farré, Jofre, and Ibrahim Diarra.
Flick will get to see these players in pre-season and can decide to keep them with the first team or loan them out for further development.
Piqué’s Andorra has a competitive second division, along with a possession style of play, so this is a prime opportunity for these kids to gain some real professional experience.
The prospective partnership represents a strategic relationship between Barcelona and Andorra, supported by Piqué’s relationship with club president Joan Laporta.
While Barcelona is keen to develop its talented academy, the relegation of Barça Atlètic to the fourth division makes it an attractive option to loan them to a higher division club like Andorra.
It will be up to Flick if these players stay with the club to compete for spots on the first team or if they head off to Andorra to get their training up to speed, and hopefully, the future for both clubs can be changed for the better.
