Galatasaray is making a hefty impact in the transfer window, having apparently reached a person agreement with a Barcelona player as the summer window approaches.
The Turkish side is in a hurry to complete a deal, after the departure of their first-choice goalkeeper Fernando Muslera, as long as Barcelona does not demand an outrageous transfer fee.
The player in question is an experienced leader who would fit perfectly into the starting XI, as the club looks to maintain success in the Süper Lig and hopes to prove a challenge in the UEFA Champions League.
Fanatik has reported that the player in question is Marc-André ter Stegen, Barcelona’s captain goalkeeper.
The 33-year-old German international is worried about his future at Camp Nou as Barca are about to sign Joan Garcia and have Wojciech Szczesny on the books.
He could see this move to Galatasaray as a great opportunity to secure regular first-team football ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
The offer Galatasaray is proposing is in line with ter Stegen’s aspirations, but Barcelona does not want to let him leave for free.
He also wants to be paid the €42 million in full when joining Galatasaray.
Ter Stegen’s potential departure would be a huge change for Barcelona, which is focusing on financial recovery and youth infusion under Hansi Flick.
Galatasaray, by contrast, views the German as a transformational signing, who would be the focal point of their defense and work with younger players.
Manchester United and Al-Hilal have also shown interest, so the race is heating up.
The next few weeks will be pivotal, with Barcelona’s position on a transfer fee and ter Stegen’s ultimate choice determining whether he wears the yellow and red of Galatasaray or stays in Catalonia to fight for a spot.
