FC Barcelona has launched a fresh appeal to overturn Hansi Flick’s suspension, aiming to secure his presence for the critical El Clasico.

With the Blaugrana second in La Liga with 19 points, Hansi Flick’s tactical nous is crucial, especially amidst injuries to Robert Lewandowski, Dani Olmo, and others.

However, a lingering issue from the Girona match threatens to sideline their manager, prompting urgent action from the club as the title race heats up.

According to Alfredo Martinez, Barcelona is lodging a fresh appeal to overturn Flick’s one-match suspension following his red card against Girona.

The German received two yellows—one for sarcastically applauding the fourth official over four minutes of stoppage time, and another for an “obscene gesture” during Ronald Araujo’s stoppage-time winner.

The RFEF’s Competition Committee rejected the initial appeal, stating, “It is appropriate to dismiss the request to nullify the double booking,” upholding the ban for El Clasico.

Undeterred, Barcelona is pushing again to have Flick on the touchline.

Flick’s absence would see assistant Marcus Sorg lead, a challenge given Real Madrid’s depleted defense, with David Alaba out.

Barcelona views Flick’s presence as vital for tactical adjustments and morale, especially with Raphinha and Ferran Torres returning.

The club’s €380m Spotify deal bolsters their ambition, but Ronald Araujo’s reported frustrations and a thin squad add pressure.

The second appeal, per Martinez, reflects Barcelona’s belief that the second yellow was harsh, given Flick’s emotional celebration.

Time is tight, with the RFEF’s final ruling expected soon.

If unsuccessful, Sorg must channel Flick’s intensity against Xabi Alonso’s Madrid.

Barcelona’s 6-1 Olympiacos rout, led by Fermin Lopez, shows their potential, but defensive lapses and excessive fouls need addressing.

The appeal’s outcome could shape El Clasico, where a win could propel Barcelona toward La Liga’s top spot, making Flick’s presence a potential game-changer in this high-stakes rivalry.
