Former Barcelona player is interested in returning

Former Barcelona Atletic captain wants to return to the club.

Interest in joining Barcelona is on the rise among Europe’s top players, with one such player, Alejandro Grimaldo, reportedly eager to make his return to the Catalan club, as highlighted by Fichajes.

Currently with Bayer Leverkusen, Grimaldo left Barcelona years ago for Benfica, after excelling as captain of Barcelona Atlètic. Despite never debuting for Barcelona’s senior team, his decision to move to Portugal paid off, as he significantly developed his skills at Benfica.

Grimaldo eventually transferred to Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, where he enjoyed a successful season last year, winning both the Bundesliga and the DFB Pokal, while narrowly missing out on the Europa League title, losing only in the final to Atalanta.

Now, similar to several of his teammates, including Jonathan Tah, Grimaldo is eyeing a move to a major European club. However, despite his aspirations, a return to Barcelona appears unlikely, given that the Catalans have Alejandro Balde firmly established as their starting left-back and are not in search of additional players in that role, as it could hinder Balde’s progress.
