According to sources at ESPN, Barcelona is determined to strengthen their team for the upcoming season. Xavi Hernandez, the coach, is actively looking for a defensive midfielder and two full-backs to bolster the squad.
While João Cancelo and Alejandro Balde have shown promise, Sergi Roberto and Marcos Alonso have not met expectations. As a result, Barcelona is in need of better full-back options.
Oriol Romeu, who replaced Sergio Busquets after his departure to Inter Miami, is reportedly under pressure to perform. Barcelona had previously shown interest in Joshua Kimmich, but his high price tag made the deal unfeasible. However, they still have their sights set on Kimmich and hope to secure his services when his Bayern Munich contract expires in 2025.
Xavi Hernandez also has a keen interest in Jorginho, Thiago Alcantara, and Guido Rodríguez. These midfielders are considered potential targets for Barcelona’s midfield reinforcement.
Another option for Barcelona is Juan Foyth from Villarreal. However, the stumbling block in this potential transfer is Foyth’s €54.6m release clause, which Villarreal is demanding for his services.
