Even though Barcelona are preparing for a massive Champions League battle with Benfica on Wednesday night, Hansi Flick could not avoid questions regarding the latest round of transfer rumours involving the possible return of former Barcelona sensation Neymar during his Tuesday press conference.
Neymar has been heavily linked with a return to Camp Nou on a free transfer this summer, as the Brazilian aims to play at the top level with the Catalans in preparation for the 2026 World Cup.
Hansi Flick on Ney’s Potential Return
According to the most recent reports from Catalonia, Barça isn’t interested in getting Neymar back right now, and when asked about the rumors, Flick refused even to entertain the idea.
“It’s not my job. I’m very focused on this team and the season. You have to be focused. It’s the job of other positions in the club, not mine.”
Neymar has been connected with Barça every single transfer window, so it’s not surprising to see his name on the rumor mill again, but this could be the first time there’s a genuine chance of it happening.
There is still a long way to go before anything tangible can happen. Neymar will need to continue to demonstrate that he has overcome his injury difficulties with his performances for Santos before the summer, but this is undoubtedly one to monitor.
