Barcelona are preparing for another pivotal week as they turn their focus back to the Champions League following their hard-fought La Liga win against Real Sociedad.

Hansi Flick’s side are brimming with confidence after climbing to the top of the table, with key players stepping up at crucial moments.

The mood among the supporters has lifted in recent weeks, and excitement is building ahead of the first El Clasico of the season next month.

Off the pitch, however, there remain ongoing questions surrounding the club’s ability to reinforce the squad and manage the balance sheet under the watchful eye of financial regulators.

As Barcelona look ahead to strengthening their squad in the winter window, the issue of financial fair play continues to dominate conversations.

Many fans have been eager for transparency on how the club are managing the challenges, particularly after back-to-back summers of complicated negotiations and limited signings.

The pressure on the sporting department has been immense, and supporters have been waiting for answers from those directly involved.

Barcelona sporting director Deco has now offered an honest insight into the club’s transfer activity, contract renewals, and ongoing financial fair play restrictions.

Speaking with Mundo Deportivo, he reflected on what has been another summer filled with difficult decisions and tough negotiations.

“This is something that affects all clubs, not just us.

“The clubs voted for these regulations, so once they are approved, they can’t complain.

“Three years ago, Barca signed Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Kounde.

“Not signing players doesn’t mean doing nothing. We’ve renewed Pedri, Gavi, and Raphinha.”

Deco also added that the team’s progress cannot be doubted.

“Barça is back where it belongs, competing for titles, with players being recognised with individual awards as a result of the collective effort.

“The only thing is that perhaps this whole issue of ‘fair play’ confuses people from the outside, and they ask me, ‘But doesn’t Barça have problems?’.

“No, Barça doesn’t have problems.

“It has ‘fair play’ problems, but that’s not important.”

His remarks highlight both the challenges and the progress the club has made despite limitations, with Deco keen to stress that Barcelona remain competitive on all fronts.
