Barcelona City Council sets countdown to Spotify Camp Nou revival, heralding a phased return to the legendary Blaugrana fortress.

After a considerable period of anticipation, changes are underway for one of the most iconic football stadiums in the world.

This venue, deeply woven into the fabric of Barcelona’s sporting history, has been undergoing extensive renovations that have kept it closed for an extended time.

Fans and residents alike have waited impatiently for news of its reopening, hopeful for a return to the vibrant atmosphere they have long missed.

The awaited reopening date for the revamped stadium, now known as Spotify Camp Nou, has been set for Monday, August 10, 2025, as reported by Diario Sport.

On this day, FC Barcelona will host their first match in over 800 days at their legendary home ground, taking a powerful symbolic step toward reclaiming their traditional fortress.

This match will be the Joan Gamper Trophy, a prestigious annual preseason event that marks the start of the football calendar for the club.

The reopening event will feature a friendly match against the Italian team Como 1907, kicking off the new era of the stadium even as further restoration and enhancements continue.

The decision to reopen comes after several years of complex and gradual construction phases, which include improvements to seating comfort, increased VIP hospitality areas, and the addition of a modern roof structure, among other state-of-the-art features.

The renovation project also focuses on integrating the stadium into the neighborhood with green spaces and better urban planning.

Though the stadium will initially reopen with a limited capacity of about 25,000 to 30,000 spectators to ensure safety and smooth operations, it is expected that the full seating capacity will be restored as further phases of the project are completed, aiming for an eventual capacity of over 100,000 fans.
