Former Chelsea defender William Gallas suggests that Cole Palmer could potentially transfer to Barcelona in the upcoming summer if Chelsea does not win any trophies this season.
Palmer, who joined Chelsea from Manchester City in 2023, has proven himself as a key player for the team in his second season at Stamford Bridge following a period of initial criticism.
His exceptional displays have secured him a place in the senior England team, and he was recently awarded the title of England Player of the Year following a standout season that featured a goal in the Euro 2024 final defeat to Spain.
Gallas, who represented Chelsea from 2001 to 2008, has voiced apprehensions regarding the club’s capacity to retain Palmer if his aspirations are not met.
“Barcelona could be a great option for him, however, they have talented players such as Lamine Yamal and are reportedly pursuing Nico Williams,” stated Gallas in an interview with Prime Casino.
“If Palmer continues to have a season similar to last year, it may be difficult for him to witness his peers celebrating successes while he stays at Chelsea without any trophies.”
In the event that Chelsea fails to secure any titles, it would not come as a shock if he were to engage with the club during the upcoming summer to seek clarification on their objectives.
Gallas highlighted Palmer’s outstanding abilities, affirming, “He possesses the aptitude to thrive in any environment due to his unparalleled skill as a player. His skill set sets him apart from other English players, making him a valuable asset for any club.”
