Chelsea and Man Utd want key Barcelona star in January

Chelsea and Manchester United are keeping an eye on key Barcelona player for a January transfer.

Barcelona has approached their negotiations with Frenkie de Jong with caution, as the club is still concerned about his contract status.

A proposed contract has been awaiting a response from the Dutch midfielder for several months. Despite making a long-awaited return to the pitch on Tuesday, de Jong has not yet provided a response.

Barcelona is aiming to have a contract agreement with de Jong nearly finalized by the end of 2024, as reported by Sport. If he fails to meet the expectations, he may be transferred, potentially leaving as soon as January.

Major clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain are closely monitoring de Jong’s situation at Barcelona.

If he fails to agree to a new contract, these teams are expected to contemplate initiating a transfer,
Barcelona clearly intends to prevent de Jong from allowing his current agreement to expire.
