Barcelona’s key midfielder’s residence can come to an end since he has just one year left on his contract.

Irrespective of how much he might wish to remain at the club, the club can be forced to sell him since they are strapped for cash.

Some of the largest clubs in Europe, like Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and PSG, have been asking for him.

The player is Frenkie De Jong, according to psgtalk

PSG, who have a reputation for poaching Barcelona stars, would also be in the mix.

Liverpool has also made contact with De Jong, but his highly compensated wage deal is a worry.

Barcelona is said to be asking for €35 million for him. With De Jong’s future also uncertain, Barcelona has already begun scouring for his replacement.

Barcelona has seemingly chosen AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders as his most likely replacement.

The Dutch midfielder has caused quite a stir in Serie A, and Hansi Flick has already approved the transfer.

But Milan put a price of over €40 million on Reijnders—a sum that Barcelona is not able to pay unless and until they get rid of De Jong beforehand.

The next couple of weeks might be crucial as Barcelona balances its books and team planning options.

If De Jong is to leave, his exit would be the end of an era, but Barcelona believes Reijnders has the mettle to plug the midfield void.
