Wojciech Szczesny has been a revelation at Barcelona since joining as a free agent a few months ago.

The Polish keeper who had originally retired last summer, was asked to join when Marc-Andre Ter Stegen picked up a long-term after he ruptured his patellar tendon.

Despite losing a quality keeper like Ter Stegen, Szczesny has really stepped up, surpassing many people’s expectations.

Since joining, the former Arsenal and Juventus keeper has yet to lose in a Barcelona shirt.

He has also had some unbelievable individual performances, most recently against Benfica in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16.

Even though Inaki Pena was expected to be the starter this season, Szczesny has well and truly displaced him, even casting doubt over the Spaniard’s Barcelona career.

The club are now even considering giving the 34-year-old a contract extension after this season, something that nobody foresaw coming.

However, Ter Stegen is edging closer and closer to full fitness, giving Hansi Flick a very hard decision.

Diario Sport’s channel has now claimed that Marc-Andre Ter Stegen wants to play in the Champions League final if Barcelona qualifies, displacing Wojciech Szczesny.

The final decision will be up to the German head coach who at the moment, is under no pressure to drop the Polish shot-stopper.

Even though the German keeper is very good, he has been known to make big mistakes, especially in the UCL.

It also needs to be taken into consideration that Ter Stegen has been out for the full season and lacks match sharpness.

If anything, Szczesny deserves to play in the biggest game of the season, especially if he can help guide the Blaugrana to the final.
