Barcelona want former player to return for €10M

Barcelona are interested in signing former defender for €10M.

The future of Óscar Mingueza is likely to be settled during the summer 2025 transfer window. The 25-year-old defender started the 2024-25 season impressively, though his form has dipped in recent weeks. Despite this, he remains a player in demand.

Currently, Mingueza plays for Celta Vigo, who own 50% of his rights. According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Celta are eager to secure full ownership of the player’s rights by negotiating with Barcelona.

The Galician club also intends to offer Mingueza a contract extension, as his current deal is set to expire at the end of the 2025-26 season.

Barcelona, however, appear unconcerned about the situation and feel they hold the upper hand.

With a clause allowing them to re-sign Mingueza for €10 million—half of his €20 million release clause due to their 50% stake—they are weighing up the option of bringing him back. This possibility has reportedly been under consideration at the Catalan club in recent months.
