Barcelona have been on a renewal spree since the start of the new year. The club’s sporting director, Deco, has been busy renewing key players’ contracts.
January saw the renewal of key players like Gavi, Pedri, and Pau Cubasi, amongst others, but Culers waited to see the contract extension of a key defender.
Barcelona to Extend Inigo’s Contract Soon
According to the reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona is set to seal the contract renewal of Inigo Martinez as the Spanish club has agreed personal terms with the 33-year-old veteran.
Inigo Martinez has been impressive this season for Barcelona, forming a formidable partnership with young defender Pau Cubarsi.
His consistent performance has earned him a contract extension, having featured in 30 matches this season in all competitions, scoring 2 goals and providing 3 assists.
Pau Cubarsi, as reported by Managing Barca, was granted an interview yesterday with Diario Sport, where he revealed his natural chemistry with the veteran.
The 33-year-old veteran has a contract with the club that runs out at the end of 2024/2025 but has a clause that automatically triggers a one-year extension if he plays 60% of the matches this season, something that he could achieve this season.
