FC Barcelona was one of the numerous clubs interested in Athletic Club’s standout player, Nico Williams.
The UEFA Euro 2024 winner chose to stay with Athletic Club, turning down offers from other clubs despite their interest.
Williams had a successful 2023-24 season, playing in 37 games for Athletic Club in various competitions. His important role in Spain’s victory at UEFA Euro 2024 increased the attention of multiple clubs.
Nonetheless, the 21-year-old made the choice to stay with Athletic Club, where he will participate in the UEFA Europa League with his brother, Iñaki Williams.
However, there are rumors in the Spanish media suggesting that Williams may transfer during the next summer.
According to a report from El Chiringuito, Williams suggested that this current season might be his final one with Athletic Club, expressing, “I’ll be sticking around for one more year” instead of just saying “I’ll be staying.”
