Barcelona has officially announced a fresh three-week injury blow that will sideline one of their key players.

The player, who has been a standout performer this season despite previous injury setbacks, will now face a brief period on the sidelines.

This latest development comes at a critical time for Barcelona as they navigate a packed fixture schedule and aim to maintain momentum domestically and in Europe.

The club’s medical team has been proactive, ensuring a clear plan for recovery aimed at preserving the player’s long-term fitness and contribution to the squad.

The player in question is Fermín López, who has sustained a minor calf muscle injury, officially sidelining him for roughly two weeks, as reported by the official Barcelona X.

The Blaugrana medical statement confirmed the injury in the soleus muscle of his right leg, with the expected recovery period clearly outlined.

This absence will see the young midfielder miss several upcoming crucial matches, including fixtures against Alaves, Atletico Madrid, Real Betis, and Eintracht Frankfurt.

There remains a slight chance he might return before the Christmas break in the game against Villarreal.

This injury timeline marks another hurdle for López, who had already missed parts of the season due to a groin injury but has been a significant presence when fit.

So far in the 2025/26 season, Fermín has been impressive with seven goals and four assists in 13 appearances across competitions, establishing himself as a preferred starter in the No. 10 role ahead of other midfield options.

His absence is inconvenient, especially with Pedri also currently sidelined, increasing his importance to the team’s creative and attacking dynamics.

Barcelona’s coaching staff will now need to adjust their strategies and squad rotation during Fermín’s recovery period, hoping for a smooth rehabilitation process that ensures his return to peak condition.

The club remains optimistic that the homegrown talent will bounce back stronger, ready to contribute as Barcelona chases its ambitions for the season.
