Barcelona is eager to keep one of their current stars after a successful spell.

Barcelona is prioritizing contract extensions for several key players ahead of the summer, with the club already securing the futures of Gavi, Pedri, Ronald Araujo, Pau Cubarsi, and Gerard Martin.

The club’s management has made it clear that they want to lock down their core group of players for the long term, ensuring stability and strengthening their squad for the seasons to come.

These young talents have proven themselves as integral parts of the team, and Barcelona is eager to reward them for their contributions while planning for a successful future.

With these players’ contracts coming into focus, Barcelona is also addressing the situation of Szczesny, who has impressed since stepping in for Marc-André ter Stegen.

After joining Barcelona as a backup following Ter Stegen’s injury, he was initially seen as a temporary solution.

However, his excellent performances have led the club to consider offering him an extension, as per Marca.

Discussions have already started, with sporting director Deco leading the talks.

Both parties are reportedly eager to continue the partnership, and an extension of at least one year is expected to be finalized.

There’s even the possibility of a two-year deal, depending on the negotiations, though much remains to be discussed.

Since becoming the starting goalkeeper, the Pole has been performing admirably, and his presence in the team has proven invaluable.

The decision to elevate him to the first-choice role earlier in the season was initially seen as a risk, but it’s now clear that it was the right call.

As Barcelona prepares for next season, their plan is to have both Ter Stegen and Szczesny as their main goalkeepers, though Inaki Pena’s future remains uncertain, with his contract expiring soon.
