FC Barcelona has confirmed that they will be at Spotify Camp Nou for the first time since its renovation on August 10, 2025, for the club’s Joan Gamper Trophy match against Como.
The announcement also comes after nearly two years of renovations, with FC Barcelona having its home games at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in Montjuïc for that time.
Earlier this year, FC Barcelona had hopes to come back to Spotify Camp Nou in late 2024; however, there were delays due to construction pushing back the timeline, and FC Barcelona is now confident that their stadium will be ready for their pre-season game.
The Joan Gamper Trophy, the traditional curtain raiser for FC Barcelona, will be a test event of a celebratory occasion where the stadium will host approximately 35,000 fans, much more than the 25,000 the club originally imagined as the construction moved quickly.
Club president Joan Laporta called back to life the importance of their return to Camp Nou to play this match, as it will also serve as a rehearsal for the official La Liga home opener of FC Barcelona between September 20-21, 2025, against a yet to be determined opponent.
La Liga has granted FC Barcelona’s request to play their first three matches of the 2025-26 season away to allow more time for them to finalize.
After renovations, and with a temporary capacity of 60,000, Spotify Camp Nou is set for new upgrades, with LED panels, new turf, etc., that will help differentiate the matchday experience.
However, the full project, including a third tier and roof, will not be completed until 2026. This partial reopening hints at the club’s commitment to its historic home.
