Barcelona are preparing to take another step in securing their future, with reports suggesting the club will offer improved contracts to two of their brightest young talents.

Gerard Martin and Marc Bernal, both of whom signed extensions in 2025, have seen their roles grow considerably this season, prompting the club to reassess their current terms to better reflect their importance in Hansi Flick’s first-team plans, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

Martin’s rise has been particularly notable.

Initially viewed as a backup option, the defender has developed into a regular starter and a reliable presence at the back.

His January 2025 contract, which runs until 2028, included a €100 million release clause, a significant sum, but modest compared to senior squad members.

Barcelona now believe his improved performances and steady influence warrant an adjustment, ensuring his contract matches his status within the squad.

Bernal’s trajectory has been equally impressive.

The young midfielder signed a deal in September 2025, committing to the club until 2029 with a €500 million release clause and improved financial terms, shortly after returning from a serious injury.

Since then, Marc Bernal has become a key figure under Flick, stepping up effectively in Frenkie de Jong’s absence and proving his worth in the centre of midfield.

His performances have even sparked discussions over whether he should retain a starting spot when the Dutchman returns, highlighting the trust and reliance the manager places in him.

While neither extension has been formally announced yet, the club’s intent is clear: to reward development, secure top young talent, and maintain stability in the first team.

Barcelona’s focus on ensuring their academy graduates and young stars feel valued reflects a broader strategy of blending youth with experience as they continue to rebuild under Flick.

For fans, these moves offer reassurance that the club is committed to nurturing its emerging talent and creating a pathway for players to grow into senior roles, ensuring La Masia graduates remain central to Barcelona’s identity and future success.
