Barcelona set their Lewandowski replacement priority

Barcelona are obsessed with signing star to replace Lewandowski.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta is reportedly fixated on signing Manchester City’s star forward, Erling Braut Haaland, as reported by journalist David Bernabeu in Sport’s La Possession.

Laporta sees Haaland as a key player to replace Robert Lewandowski, who is nearing the end of his career.

“Laporta’s primary obsession has always been Erling Haaland,” Bernabeu noted. “Just because it’s an obsession doesn’t mean he can actually make it happen. But it’s the central piece guiding all his decisions.”

The Norwegian striker is under contract with Manchester City until 2027, with a release clause expected to become active in the coming seasons.

Adding to the uncertainty surrounding his future, City faces 115 financial charges, leading to speculation about possible sanctions, which could include relegation.

Sensing the interest from European clubs, City has reportedly begun working on a new contract to extend Haaland’s stay beyond his current deal.
