For months, Barcelona fans have eagerly awaited the moment they could return to their iconic Spotify Camp Nou stadium.

There has been an ongoing excitement surrounding the potential return to their historic home ground, with hopes running high for key matches like the La Liga El Clasico and potentially the UEFA Champions League games.

But despite the anticipation, there have been several delays surrounding the renovation of the stadium.

The club, which has been temporarily playing at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, has been working tirelessly to ensure their return to Camp Nou.

However, with the latest update from Barcelona, it appears the wait for the return to their traditional home ground will be longer than expected.

Barcelona’s recent email to season ticket holders, as reported by Mundo Deportivo, confirmed that their return to Spotify Camp Nou would be delayed again.

Fans who hold passes for Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys have been notified that their tickets will remain valid for the rest of the 2024/25 season.

This essentially confirms that the team will not be returning to their iconic home ground this year.

“We inform you that the extension of the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys 24/25 pass will now include all remaining matches of the men’s first team in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League until the end of the 2024/25 season,” the club’s email stated.

“If you wish to extend your pass for these additional matches, you can do so via the following link.”

While the club has not officially ruled out a return to Camp Nou, the email suggests that Barcelona will continue playing at Montjuic for the rest of the season.

This development follows a recent agreement with the Barcelona City Council that will allow the club to use Montjuic until May 20.

Initially, Barcelona had hoped to return to Camp Nou by the end of 2024, but construction delays have caused the deadline to be pushed back multiple times.

Although the club had hoped to be back in time for key fixtures, including the La Liga El Clasico and potential Champions League matches, the reality now seems to be that Montjuic will remain their home for the time being.

It remains to be seen whether the construction will be completed in time for Barcelona to kick off next season at Camp Nou or whether further delays will continue to stall their return.
