Barcelona’s preparations for their upcoming clash against RCD Mallorca have been anything but straightforward.
The Catalan giants have endured a hectic summer filled with transfer activity, financial juggling, and endless speculation over how they would manage their squad within La Liga’s strict registration rules.
With fans anxiously awaiting clarity, much of the build-up to the weekend’s fixture has been clouded by uncertainty surrounding who would actually be eligible to feature.
The spotlight has not only been on the club’s new arrivals but also on the board’s ability to handle the situation behind the scenes.
Now, with the game looming large, Barcelona can finally breathe a sigh of relief.
The biggest concern for FC Barcelona ahead of the clash against RCD Mallorca was related to player registrations.
While the signings this summer had been promising, their registrations remained a concern.
Fortunately, both signings are now registered.
As displayed on the official La Liga website, Spanish goalkeeper Joan Garcia and attacker Marcus Rashford have now been registered as Barca players.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper, formerly a player for RCD Espanyol, and Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United, are now eligible to play in La Liga while representing La Blaugrana.
A massive step in the right direction for the Catalan club, but one that came with a lot of sacrifices and hurdles.
From player departures to internal conflicts, getting to this point was far from easy.
Ironically, perhaps the easiest part was actually signing the players from Espanyol and United.
Since then, however, the club has constantly been working on arranging and finalising his registration.
Fortunately, that has now been sorted as well.
“If Hansi Flick wants, both of them are available for the game tomorrow,” president Joan Laporta said via Mundo Deportivo.
For Barcelona fans, the availability of both Joan Garcia and Marcus Rashford is huge news.
With Marc-André ter Stegen’s injury forcing the club to rethink its goalkeeping options, Garcia’s inclusion could be decisive.
Meanwhile, Rashford’s arrival on loan from Old Trafford provides much-needed firepower upfront.
The registrations may seem like mere administrative detail, but in the wider context of Barcelona’s turbulent summer, it represents a vital victory behind the scenes that now allows Hansi Flick to focus entirely on football rather than finances.
