Barcelona Football Club is having a stellar season, which would still be a dream for many club fans after struggling seasons. Players are stepping up their games and are still productive, even coming off the bench.

From being ignored as title contenders at the beginning of the 2024/2025 season to being the favorite for most titles, FC Barcelona’s improvement has shocked the football world.

FC Barcelona is dreadful in its attack, and the result has been over 140 goals scored since the start of the new season while remaining undefeated in 2025.

The Catalan club is looking to face Borussia Dortmund in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League after breezing past Benfica in the round of 16 and hopes to qualify for the Copa del Rey final after a 4-4 draw against Atletico Madrid last month.

In an attempt to maintain their La Liga position, FC Barcelona is set to lock horns with Diego Simeone side later today. A win against the Madrid side will see the Blaugrana in first.

Before the crucial match, Barcelona player Pablo Martín Páez Gavira, commonly known as Gavi, expressed how much he admires Atlético Madrid head coach Diego Simeone.

Barcelona will travel to Spain’s capital for a duel with an angry Atléti squad, still angry after being sent out of the Champions League midweek in a controversial manner.

In preparation for Saturday’s encounter, the aforementioned Gavi spoke with Movistar.

During the interview, the midfielder was questioned about his thoughts on Diego Simeone’s continued efforts on the Metropolitano touchline.

And Gavi took advantage of the occasion to express his admiration for the Argentine, explaining:

“Atlético Madrid have a coach I like. I like Cholo Simeone. I like him for his personality and for how he inspires his players.”

It remains to be seen if Gavi will return to the starting XI tonight or if the German coach will depend on Dani Olmo for the attacking position.
